The fruit of a shrub found mainly in southern China, goji berry is very popular for its slightly acidic sweet flavour. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is used to stimulate the immune system, improve eyesight and also tone the blood circulation and protect the lungs and kidneys. Studies carried out on goji berry have shown that, in addition to high levels of immuno-stimulating polysaccharides, it also has exceptional antioxidant properties. Goji berry is classed as a superfruit. Richer in antioxidants (flavonoids, tannins, other polyphenols and vitamin C) than the average fruit, it is said to have health benefits.

Protecting the soil and biodiversity is a long-standing commitment at Clarins. That’s why we have always given priority to plant-based active ingredients sourced from organic agriculture, grown using sustainable farming methods that respect nature and the health of the soil. This is true for our goji berry which grows in China’s Ningxia province, a protected area, at an altitude of 2000 metres. Our producer is one of the leading local producers with multiple plantations renowned for their quality. The berries are dried in close proximity to the plantations, keeping the transport of goods to a minimum.
