Rosemary is a shrub from the Mediterranean which grows on limestone soils. Its long, fine, highly aromatic leaves are used to flavour dishes and are also popular in the perfumery and phytotherapy fields. Legend has it that Isabella of Hungary (in the 16th century) regained her health and youthfulness at the age of 72 by drinking a rosemary-based elixir.
